All properties (residential and commercial) that do not have street lights pay the same rate (intersection safety lighting only). Different types of property that do have street lights are assessed for maintenance at different rates: Single-Family Residential To find out how SacDOT assesses your specific property, use the Rate Calculator All single-family residential (SFR) parcels that do not have street lights are assessed at the same rate for maintenance of intersection safety lights only. Your current rate is $2.56 a year. All SFR parcels with street lights are currently assessed at the same rate, which supports maintenance of both street lights and intersection safety lights. Your current rate is $17.88 a year. The proposed rates will add a "Decorative Lights" category to provide adequate revenue to maintain those lights. SFR Rates
If you live in a condominium or townhouse, your rate is calculated as a commercial rate, by the front foot, divided by the number of units in your building or development. To find your specific rate, use the Rate Calculator. Some very small residential parcels and those in special planning areas are classified as commercial. When a property's front footage is less than the average single-family parcel, charging by the front foot is more equitable. To find out your specific rate, use the Rate Calculator. Multi-family (apartment) buildings are charged by front foot in the same ways as commercial property (see below). All commercial properties that do not have street lights pay only the Intersection Safety Lighting charge. Rates for commerical properties with street lights are calculated by the amount of front feet the property has. To find the actual rate for your property, use the Rate Calculator
